Based in: Perth, Western Australia

I am a Kenyan-qualified Registered Nurse and current Master of Nursing student at the Institute of Health Management in Perth, Western Australia. My professional journey has developed across both nursing and complex support settings, giving me experience caring for people with diverse clinical, physical, neurological and psychosocial needs.

Since moving into the Australian healthcare environment, I have worked in support and complex-care roles involving mental health, disability, respiratory and ventilator support, tracheostomy care, enteral feeding, seizure management, spinal injuries, palliative care and community-based care. These experiences have strengthened my understanding that quality healthcare is not only about clinical knowledge and technical skills, but also about trust, communication, dignity, patience and understanding the individual behind the condition.

My nursing foundation was developed through my Bachelor of Science in Nursing at Dedan Kimathi University of Technology in Kenya, followed by professional experience as a Registered Nurse at Kenyatta National Hospital. I am now building on that foundation through postgraduate study and continued clinical and support experience in Australia.

My professional interests include person-centred care, mental health, complex care, clinical learning, evidence-based practice and professional development. My academic work, including research into refugee mental health and effective preceptorship and mentorship in clinical nursing education, reflects my interest in understanding not only how healthcare is delivered, but also how nurses can continue to learn, support one another and provide more responsive care.

This ePortfolio brings together selected aspects of my academic learning, clinical development, reflective practice, research and professional goals. It provides a record of where I have come from, what I am learning now, and the kind of nursing professional I am continuing to become.
